Nominations Now Open for the 2013 Readers’ Choice Awards

Yesterday, About Theme Parks opened nominations for its annual Reader’s Choice Competition! Theme parks fans and employees may nominate for the following categories:
 
• Best New Theme Park Attraction of 2012
• Best New Theme Park Show of 2012
• Best New Roller Coaster of 2012
• Best New Water Park Ride of 2012
• Best Theme Park Halloween Event of 2012
• Best Theme Park Holidays Event of 2012

This year, there are two exciting NEW categories:

• Best Full-Service Park Restaurant
• Best Quick-Service Park Restaurant

Nominations will be open through Feb. 11, and voting will run from Feb. 19 through March 19, with winners announced March 27.

If you have a favorite theme park restaurant, this is the perfect way to let your voice be heard and share your appreciation for the dining location!

Pretzel Sandwich at Busch Gardens WilliamsburgThe pretzel sandwich can be found at the Beste Brezeln und Bier (Best Pretzel and Beer) dining location in the Germany section at Busch Gardens. The sandwiches come in a variety of options, including turkey and cheese and other traditional options, and are served on a salty pretzel roll. Guten Appetit! Fried Green Tomato Sandwich at DisneylandFound at the Hungry Bear Restaurant, a wilderness themed quick service dining option, the fried green tomato sandwich is a unique menu item that tempts the taste buds. Imagine, if you dare, fried green tomatoes smothered in cornmeal, red tomatoes, havarti cheese and remoulade, all served on a multi-grain roll. Sounds like the wildest dine in the wilderness! Waffle Sandwiches at the Magic KingdomIn Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square, a small walk-up dining option called “Sleepy Hollow” has begun offering something sweet; waffle sandwiches. The sandwiches come in three varieties including nutella and fresh fruit, sweet and spicy chicken, and ham with prosciutto and Swiss cheese. The waffles are of considerable size and are both sweet AND crunchy, and are freshly made when you order. Hummus and Grilled Chicken Wrap at Morey’s Raging WatersAt Wreckers Beach Grill at Morey’s Raging Waters, you can dine on a lighter theme park food option. The new Grilled Chicken and Hummus features homemade hummus, tzatziki sauce, cucumbers and tomatoes and is served with a side of pita chips.
